Regional Health Services of Howard County is proud to share that RHSHC physician, Dr. Paul Jensen, MD delivered his final scheduled baby of his medical career. Cody & Amanda Stockdale welcomed Huck James on August 25, 2022, completing Dr. Jensen’s obstetric practice that began with his first delivery in November of 2000.
Over nearly 22 years, Dr. Jensen has delivered 324 babies at Regional Health – all of which have made a memorable impact on his medical career. From a rushed delivery in the hospital ambulance bay to nearly needing a snowmobile to get into town for a delivery, Dr. Jensen recalls many interesting moments throughout the years. And although there are some challenging or scary times on the job, Dr. Jensen always strives for positive patient outcomes.
To this day, he enjoys seeing pictures of the babies he has delivered as they grow in life or from special events such as their prom pictures. “It’s neat to see kids grow up and see what they’ve become. It’s special as they make their own lives,” said Dr. Jensen. There is no doubt about how much Dr. Jensen cares about his patients – remembered by families especially through the Dr. Seuss book he leaves each new baby with, including a personalized message inside.
Although he has delivered his last scheduled obstetric patient, Dr. Jensen will remain on call for deliveries for any backup needs that arise. Dr. Jensen will also continue his medical practice at the Cresco Medical Clinic, seeing his clinic patients as usual. As for the RHSHC OB Department, it is in good hands as Dr. Kimberlee Burckart and Dr. Kelsey Thomas have joined the OB team in addition to continuing providers Certified Nurse Midife, Stephanie Riley; Dr. Kammerer; and Dr. Maher.
His last mom and baby are doing well, and we congratulate Dr. Jensen on the many lives he has impacted with his OB practice and dedication to patients. Thank you for all you do at RHSHC!
