The Radiology Department at Regional Health Services of Howard County is excited to announce new and expanded imaging services! These additions include:
- A state-of-the art PET Scan system
- Increased availability of MRI services, now available onsite 5 days per week
- New Breast MRI services
PET Scans
The anatomical and biological information obtained from the PET/CT system permits accurate tumor detection and localization for almost all cancers, for example, melanoma, lymphoma, lung, colorectal, head and neck, cervical, breast, esophageal, myeloma, thyroid, and ovarian cancers.
Other applications include reducing biopsy sampling errors, improvement of therapy planning, and assessment of response to treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
The entire examination is generally performed in less than one hour, providing comprehensive diagnostic information to the clinicians and attending physicians quickly.
MRI Services
MRIs provide a view of the inside of the body to help diagnose certain diseases. MRI does not use x-rays so no radiation is involved in this test.
Instead, it uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create a very clear picture of structures inside your body. MRI uses sensitive equipment and specially designed computers to create images of the entire area being scanned.
Please let us know how we can assist you with your imaging needs. Our goal is to help you and your loved ones get important health information in a timely manner without additional stress, travel, and expense. Call 563-547-6374 to learn more.
