PET Scan Services Upgraded to Digital

Bailey Kach

Regional Health Services of Howard County is excited to announce their PET/CT Scan services will now be upgraded to digital PET/CT scans beginning in February 2024.

The digital technology offers significantly faster scan times and easier, more comfortable access for patients. The scan produces high-resolution images, with a lower radiation dose, showing pathology three-times smaller than non-digital scans. This advanced technology allows for identifications of cancers that analog PET/CT cannot.

Regional Health originally brought PET/CT services to the local area in 2022, in alignment with fulfilling their mission to ensure a variety of specialized healthcare options are available to those living in the surrounding local communities. This digital PET/CT scanner is available onsite in Cresco monthly and is the only of its kind within nearly a two-hour or more drive of Cresco.

PET/CT combines the functional information from a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) exam with anatomical information from a Computed Tomography (CT) exam in one single exam. When the two scans are fused together, the information can have a major impact on assisting a physician with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Learn more here.
