Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
SHIIP is a program through the State of Iowa, which is staffed by trained volunteers, that provides free informational materials, as well as one-to-one assistance with:
- Medicare coverage
- Medicare supplement insurance
- Medicare Part D assistance and enrollment (prescription insurance)
- Long-term care insurance
- Medicare and insurance claims
- Other related issues
SHIIP does not endorse insurance companies, plans or agents. SHIIP volunteers answer questions and provide impartial information to help seniors make well-informed decisions. SHIIP is available to help if you:
- Are going on Medicare
- Are over age 65, on Medicare, and have questions
- Are on disability with Medicare and Medicaid
How to Make a SHIIP Appointment
SHIIP volunteers are available by appointment at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco by calling 563-547-6335.
What to Bring to Your SHIIP Appointment
Please bring your insurance card(s) and a list of your current medications.
Office Location
The SHIIP office is located in the white Kessel Building behind the main RHSHC building. The Kessel building is also home to Wound Clinic and Senior Life Solutions. Please park in front of this building and enter through the front door. The SHIIP volunteers will be there for your arrival.
